Simon Kajtna: Summer Inspirations
Academic painter Simon Kajtna was born in 1971 in Trbovlje, and he lives and works in Šentjernej. He graduated from the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts in 1997 in the class of Professor Andrej Jemec. He is a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Slovenia and a recipient of numerous prizes and awards for his work: the Student Prešeren Prize, the University Prešeren Prize, the Purchase Prize of the Ivan Napotnik Gallery and the Ex Tempore Piran Award, to name just some of them.
Simon Kajtna is a painter of concrete motifs, both landscape and figurative ones, but his painting language is most frequently just on the edge of the abstract. For his work he uses direct stimuli from the natural environment and always puts a strong emphasis on the gesture and structure of the recording – the term he uses for a finished painting. Recording is therefore a result of all factors: the environment, emotional sensibility and substantial properties of colour and drawing.
We are presenting the selected works by Simon Kajtna in Gredič as summer inspirations. Let them take you to worlds of creative power and imagination.
